Toyota Motors Manufacturing Assembly Paint, Weld and Press
Size: 10,500 Tons
Duration: Four Months (Seven Weeks Field Duration)
Location: San Antonio, Texas
Midwest Steel Inc. erected 10,500 Tons of steel for the Toyota Paint, Plastics and Assembly Facilities in San Antonio, Texas in record time. It was the most aggressive schedule ever for a Paint and Assembly Plant. The entire 10,500 Tons for both plants was erected in a record 10 weeks with zero lost-time accidents for the thousands of man-hours worked to complete this project. Midwest Steel was recognized by Toyota Management for an excellent Safety Record on this project.
Midwest Steel coordinated the manufacturing and delivery schedules of seven fabricators that provided the detail in a manner that allowed for the sequencing, planning and erection of both plants. The Toyota Team also provided excellent site conditions which allowed Midwest Steel to maneuver equipment, materials, and crews easily. More than 16 loads of steel per day were delivered to cranes, in both plants, without interruption over a six week time frame. We used a unique approach for off-loading the steel and delivery of the steel to the erection areas - - erecting steel in both plants simultaneously.
The extraordinary commitment of each member of the Project Team resulted in a very successful and integrated project.
