Midwest Steel proudly installed the Cupola arches that make up the backbone of the Florida Polytechnic Science and Technology Center in Lakeland, Florida. This building was designed by the world renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. The Cupola arches support the center piece of this new building, which is the glass atrium in the middle of the building that is covered by an operable le louver system that opens to expose the glass atrium and automatically adjusts to the position of the sun. Additionally, the Florida Polytechnic Science and Technology Center received the 2015 AISC IDEAS2 Award for excellence in steel-frame building design, in a category of projects costing $15 Million to $75Million, making it the highest level of award in the competition.
